Spring planning time!
The Farmers’ Market AGM is where we take a look at the previous season, discuss the logistics of the coming season, and update our membership, operating and financial plans. Everybody is welcome, and voting members are able to give input on Market Association discussions & decisions.

Starting with a variety of pieces of domestic and exotic woods, Allan Stafford of Williams Lake, B.C. uses a wood lathe to reveal the vast array of grains and patterns hidden within.
Allan’s range of items is constantly expanding – from pens of all kinds to kitchen utensils and personal items. He has recently branched out into utilizing marbled acrylic turnings to create durable and waterproof handles for some of his kitchen items prone to frequent washing.
An architectural draftsman by trade, Allan has turned his hobby of woodworking into a successful side business, combining practicality and artistic creativity. As you might notice when visiting him at his booth, and from the name of his business, Allan uses a wheelchair to aid with his mobility, and started using a wood lathe during high school shop class as it was a way to participate in woodworking which did not require much standing and walking.
You will find Allan at every Friday and Tuesday Williams Lake Farmers’ Market, May till mid-October. He is always pleased to undertake custom orders.

We are pleased to announce that in collaboration with the Williams Lake Food Policy Council we will be holding a special SEEDY SATURDAY EARLYBIRD FARMERS’ MARKET on SATURDAY, MAY 1st, 2021.
The Market will return to its usual 9 AM till 2 PM FRIDAY schedule on Grand Opening Day, Friday, May 7, 2021.
The Market Committee has decided to roll out a rather different non-live/non-Zoom AGM format this year.
2020 members will be receiving AGM notices shortly, either via email or phone call/regular mail for those without online access. These will include notes on Agenda items, plus a call for Director nominations and and invitation to add New Business points not already on the Agenda.
On March 1 the full AGM package will be emailed/mailed/posted online, and members will have an opportunity to vote and contribute comments, either via email or phone conversation.
The AGM final report and 2021 Vendor Applications* will roll out on March 17th.For more info, please feel free to contact CDFMA Secretary/Market Manager Barb at wlfm.manager@gmail.com / 250-297-6553
*Please note: All BC Farmers’ Markets are currently restricted to “Food Only” vendors at this time, but we anticipate this restriction will be lifted at some point to allow for the full range of vendors.
We will be accepting applications from ALL types of vendors, in order to allow vendor participation to roll out as smoothly as possible in accordance with provincial Covid-19 developments.
Can’t make it to the Friday Morning Market? Here’s a solution for you!
We have started up our additional summer markets, being held every Tuesday, June 16th to September 29th, 2 PM until 7 PM.
Some of your favourite Friday vendors will be in attendance, with visiting vendors and community info booths. We’re hoping to occasionally have some live background music, too.
We are getting ready to go with our first Farmers’ Market of 2020.
Due to COVID-19 recommendations by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, the Market will currently be restricted to food items and food plants only.
Entrance to the Market will be monitored, hand-sanitizing stations will be provided, and vendors will operate with safe-shopping plans in place. Please remember to maintain those social distances! At least 2 metres (6 feet) from others is the rule. Face covers are encouraged. Please don’t touch the produce – vendors will assist and handle your purchases for you. Clean, new bags will be provided.
Exactly opposite to “before COVID”, for the duration of pandemic health and safety restrictions we are asking that customers SHOP, DON’T STOP! and move through the Market as quickly as possible. There will be no entertainment or seating area, and we are not permitted to allow eating and drinking on-site – if you are buying ready-to-eat food, please be prepared to consume it elsewhere.
As the Recreation Centre is closed, bathroom facilities may not be available at the Market site. Please plan to “go at home” before you stop by.
By shopping responsibly at the Market, you will be supporting your local farmers and food makers while acquiring excellent nutrition from close to home.
Local Food for Local Folk!
Watch for our new ONLINE MARKETPLACE rolling out on May 1st, which allows pre-orders and access to vendors who can’t be at the Market in person. We’ll publish a link when it’s ready to go live.
The TUESDAY MARKET is still in our plans, and scheduled to start June 16th. Updates asap.
Looking forward to hosting you soon.
Join us for the Williams Lake Farmers’ Market / Cariboo Direct Farm Market Association AGM. Monday, February 3rd, 10AM till noon, Blue Spoon Restaurant sunroom. Tea, coffee and snacks provided.
Everybody welcome!
